INFLUENCE OF MAGNETIC FLUID PROPERTIES ON MAGNETORHEOLOGICAL BRAKE CHARACTERISTICS

Abstract:
A computerised test stand for magnetorheological brakes built at the Institute of Industrial Electrical Engineering is described in the paper. Capabilities of the stand are discussed. Tests of a prototype of a MR brake were carried out and dynamic properties and mechanical and control characteristics of the brake were determined. The impact of MR fluids on functional parameters of the brake was studied. Sample test results are presented.
