MODEL FOLLOWING CONTROL IN VECTOR CONTROL SYSTEMS FOR PERMANENT MAGNET SYNCHRONOUS MOTORS

Abstract:
The paper presents a new robust structure of speed control in vector control systems for permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM). The structure concerned is the Model Following Control (MFC), belonging to the class of Model Based Control (MBC) systems. The results of simulations and experiments carried out for disk-type motor laboratory model demonstrated in the paper confirm achieving significant improvement in control quality for cases with remarkable drive parameter perturbations and significant increase in interference dumping, when compared to classical design solution involving PI controller. The structure presented proves to be simple to design, and therefore should become suitable for applications where parameters are subject to heavy perturbations and/or systems requiring high robustness to noises and interferences.
