|MODELLING OF L296 REGULATOR IN SPICE|

This paper deals with the problem of modelling a class of monolithic integrated circuits with the use of SPICE. The STMicroelectronics regulator L296 intended for switching-mode power supplies based on the BUCK converter has been chosen for investigations. A new electrothermal macromodel of L296 (including selfheating) for SPICE, is presented. In this macromodel formulated in the network form with the use of some control sources accessible in SPICE, the fundamental physical phenomena responsible for the feedback loop operation, as well as the description of blocks protecting from the over-current effect and the dangerous increase of the junction temperature are taken into account. The correctness of the proposed macromodel has been verified experimentally.
