A PREDICTIVE ALGORITHM TO CONTROL ELECTRIC MULTI-ZONE FURNACES

Abstract:
The aim of this paper is to formulate a nonlinear predictive control strategy with a dynamic linearization around the prediction error. The approach is intended for electroheating processes and allows for control constraints through including appropriate approximating functions into the model input matrix. The effectiveness of the formulated control algorithm has been verified on the basis of some simulation experiments carried out on electric furnaces, the time characteristics of which have been delivered by the manufacturer.
