A NEW MATHEMATICAL MODEL TO OPTIMIZE A STRATEGY OF IMPERFECT PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE USING ANT COLONIES

Abstract:
This paper uses an ant system (AS) meta-heuristic optimization method to solve a preventive maintenance problem. Such systems are a multi-state (MSS) behavior because they can have different levels of output performance. One of the ways to enhance system reliability, possible preventive maintenance actions are performs to elements, which ability to affect the effective equipment age. The MSS system reliability is defined as the ability to satisfy a meet demand. A fast procedure is presented in which allowed to obtain the plan sequence of maintenance actions providing system working at desired level reliability during its lifetime with minimal maintenance cost.
The procedure of MSS reliability system evaluation based on the universal moment generating function (UMGF) method is suggested. In this work the AS approach is used as an optimization technique and adapted to the given problem.
