TARGET-BRAKING OF METROPOLIS TRAINS IN WARSAW SUBWAY

Abstract:
The aim of the paper is to describe a target-braking algorithm for Metropolis trains in Warsaw subway. This algorithm was implemented as a part of automatic train protection (ATP) system - SOP-2. Operation of the proposed target braking control system depends on the distance between the train and the target point by platform and is divided into two phases - tracking phase and approaching phase. The first one consists in tracking a reference-braking trajectory by the train state. During this phase the electrodynamic braking obtained by appropriate control of the train electrical drive is used only. In the second phase - by approaching the target point - the train moves freely in the beginning and then the pneumatic brakes are activated at the accurately calculated moment.
