|FORCE FIELD TRANSFORMATION IN EDGE DETECTION AND SEGMENTATION OF MEDICAL IMAGES|
In the article the concept of use of the force field transformation for the digital processing of medical images is proposed. Field force transformation treats an image as the uniformly distributed field of electrostatic charges. It was used with success for digital filtering of medical images, giving an effect of image smoothing and edge detection. With such transformation it is possible to denoise image and prepare it for further segmentation by the effective operation of edge detection. The results of such transformation obtained for a various medical imaging techniques including MRI, RTG, CT, NMI and others are presented. Especially good results has been achieved for cytological images. All the transformations were performed with the author's ForceT 1.0 software built under the MATLAB environment.
