|EXAMINE THE PROCESSES TAKING PLACE IN POLYMERS EXPOSED TO ELECTRIC FIELD|
The scientists at the Section of High Voltage and Electrical Engineering at Technical University of Szczecin has carried out the synthesis of a new latent hardener, based on merkaptobenzimidazol zinc salt. The electroinsulating material produced on base of the latter has proved to show significantly better properties than the resins hardened with conventional methods (higher adhesion, impact resistance, high mechanical strength, more favorable electric characteristics, composite stability while long-time storing at ambient temperatures before final production processing). The properties mentioned have been proved through comparative tests on epoxy composites crosslinked with various hardeners. To determine the internal structure of materials tested and its effect on the level and process of electric conductivity, there were the thermally stimulated depolarization current (TSC) measurements taken.
