PERMANENT MAGNET BRUSHLESS MOTORS WITH INNOVATIVE EXCITATION SYSTEMS

Abstract:
The research results in magnetic systems of permanent magnet (PM) brushless electrical machines with cylindrical, disc and linear geometry have been discussed. In order to generalize different topologies, those PM machines are called "PM electromechanical energy converters" (EMECs). Various approaches to combined magnetic system design with magnetic layers and ferromagnetic field concentrators have been proposed and analyzed. It has been shown, that the application of combined magnetic systems allows for increasing both the magnetic, and electrical loadings of electrical machines. This is the basis for development of unconventional EMECs with increased power density, reduced mass and dimensions and improved dynamic performance.
