A REVIEW OF PWM AC VOLTAGE TRANSFORMING CIRCUITS APPLICATIONS

Abstract:
The paper deals with PWM AC voltage transforming circuits. In these circuits PWM AC matrix choppers (MC) or matrix-reactance choppers (MRC) are used to buck or buck-boost AC voltage transforming. An applications review of these circuits is presented. There is featured the ordination of the application area, which encircle ones applications as the RMS AC voltage, current or power conditioners, as the FACTS sub circuit or as the AC/DC converter. The application area in FACTS is especially allowed and some examples of MC and MRC applications in AC voltage regulators, AC voltage sags compensators, series and parallel SVC or in boost matrix converters are presented. The circuit-averaged models of the MC and MRC are employed to simplified description of presented applications. There are in this paper some examples of own investigations of discussed converters.
